Championing Diversity and Inclusivity: How Giide Celebrates International Women’s Day and Promotes Business Success

International Women’s Day (IWD) is an annual global event that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. For Australian businesses, IWD is an opportunity to reflect on how they can create more diverse and inclusive workplaces and to celebrate the women who contribute to their success. At Giide, we champion diversity and inclusivity within our own team and for our customers’ businesses. Here are some ways we do this.

1. Gender Balance:

Gender balance is essential for creating a successful and innovative workplace. At Giide, we strive for a 50/50 gender balance in our own team, as studies have shown that gender-balanced teams are more effective and innovative, with greater collaboration and creativity. According to a study by the Peterson Institute for International Economics, companies with at least 30% women in leadership roles are 15% more profitable than those with no women in leadership roles. Furthermore, gender-balanced teams have been shown to have higher employee engagement and job satisfaction levels, leading to lower turnover rates.

2. Diversity of Perspectives:

Diversity of perspectives is critical for creating a successful and inclusive workplace. Our team actively seek out and encourage applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds, including different ethnicities, ages, and abilities. We also understand that diversity of perspectives leads to better problem-solving, innovation, and decision-making, which ultimately benefits business outcomes. According to research by McKinsey & Company, companies in the top quartile for gender diversity are 21% more likely to experience above-average profitability. Furthermore, companies in the top quartile for ethnic and cultural diversity are 33% more likely to experience above-average profitability.

3. Training and Education:

Education and training are key to creating a more inclusive workplace. We provide regular training and resources to our team on topics such as unconscious bias and diversity and inclusion best practices. We also work closely with our customers to help them create more diverse and inclusive workplaces, providing advice and support on recruitment strategies, diversity and inclusion policies, and training for their teams. According to research by Deloitte, companies with inclusive cultures are twice as likely to meet or exceed financial targets, three times as likely to be high-performing, and six times as likely to be innovative and agile.

4. Inclusive Language:

Language is a powerful tool for creating an inclusive workplace. At Giide Recruitment, we strive to use inclusive language in our job advertisements and communications, avoiding gendered language and using terms that are welcoming to all. This helps attract a diverse range of candidates and creates a more inclusive culture. According to research by LinkedIn, job advertisements with gender-neutral language receive 42% more applicants than those with gendered language. Furthermore, job advertisements with a gendered tone are perceived as less appealing by both men and women.

International Women’s Day is an important reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need for more diverse and inclusive workplaces. We champion diversity and inclusivity within our own team and for our customers’ businesses. By doing so, we believe we can help create a more equitable and successful future for everyone.
